New Online Degree in Early Childhood Education

Park University, founded in 1875 in Parkville, Missouri, announced today that is will offer an Early Childhood Education Bachelor of Science program online.

“Park’s Early Childhood Education program will address a serious need identified by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for more than 115,000 preschool teachers between now and 2016, “ said Jo Agnew-Tally, dean of Park’s School for Education. She also noted that the online degree program will meet national requirements “and it will be especially helpful to child care providers who often must work late and are not able to attend face-to-face classes,” she said.

According to Park University officials, the National Association for the Education of Young Children is now mandating that at least 75 percent of early childhood teachers have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.

Park enrolls 25,489 students in undergraduate and graduate degree programs at its main campus in Parkville and at 43 campus centers located in 21 states and online. For more information about the online program, visit Park’s School for Education web site, http://www.park.edu/education .
