Penn State to Introduce Online Labor and Employment Relations Program

In the coming years, it is expected that more positions will be developed in human resources and employment relations, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics expecting these jobs to grow at a higher than average rate through 2018. To meet the needs of employers, Penn State has created a new online certificate program in Labor and Employment Relations that allows students to work in the field while earning their degree. The school has offered an on-campus degree in this program for 60 years, and now the university is expanding the program to Penn State’s World Campus.

“There is a large demand for this degree because of the central role human resources and employment relations plays in the modern workplace,” said Paul E. Clark, head and professor in Penn State’s Department of Labor Studies and Employment Relations. “The programs give students an opportunity to earn a degree and plug into our network of human resources and employment relations alumni who are working in top companies, in the federal government and with American unions. It is also a great prelaw degree.”
