U. of Scranton to Award Scholarships to Teachers

Yesterday, the U. of Scranton and Bisk Education, Inc., announced that the Bisk Foundation will award scholarships for teachers who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to social justice. The scholarships can be used for the Scranton Education Online (SEOL) program.

Up to eight students per year will be awarded about $63,000 to pursue Master of Science degrees in Curriculum and Instruction or Educational Administration.

"We are proud to partner with The U. of Scranton in helping advance the professional development of some of our nation's most accomplished teachers," said Nathan M. Bisk, founder and chairman of Bisk Education.

The Bisk Education, Inc. was founded in 1971 and today provides professional online education through a division called University Alliance. The U. of Scranton is located in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania and was founded in 1888. Since 1942, it has been a Jesuit university and today is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The College of Graduate and Continuing Education is accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
