Studying in Wales Long Distance

The hope of online learning is that education can be, literally, anywhere in the world. Take Wales, for example. The Univerwsity of Wales, Lampeter, recently announced it is offering an "MA in Celtic Studies," a distance-learning program which allows students "to study in your own home at your own pace." Do you live in England? Montana? No problem.

The U. of Wales has organized "modules" on subjects ranging from Welsh Folk Life, Women of the Middle Ages, Beginner's Irish, The Celts: From Origins to the Modern Era and so on. Students complete modules, write essays and work in English, although language studies are offered. Web-based tools are available 24 hours a day.

The U. of Wales began offering programs in distance learning in 1998. The MA in Celtic Studies is now available to international students who can, for a limited time, pay the same fees as European Union students. (E3,390 as opposed to E10,719.)
