New Minnesota Learning Commons Promotes Online Learning

A new website highlighting online learning options in the state of Minnesota was recently unveiled to provide information on educational resources for students, educators, parents, advisors and lifelong learners. The project is sponsored by the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and the Minnesota Department of Education

Called the Minnesota Learning Commons, or MnLc, the venture states that its mission "is to provide access to effective and efficient online learning….” One of its goals is to “increase coordination and communication of online learning initiatives” in the state and another is to “increase the number of courses, programs and services available online.”

The site will provide options for students, resources for teachers and information on workforce development. The website will also showcase best practices and student success. Visitors to the site will be able to compare the programs at some 250 colleges in Minnesota, private and public.
