Bridgepoint Ed Introduces B.A., Degrees in Environment Studies and Homeland Security

Working with Ashford University, Bridgepoint Education, a company that provides postsecondary education degree programs, announced today that it would launch two new bachelor’s degrees that will be available online. One aims to prepare students for careers in conservation and various environmental fields. The other bachelor’s degree aims at preparing students for careers in public and private security and emergency management.

Ashford is located in Clinton, Iowa, and is one of two regionally accredited academic institutions working with Bridgepoint. The other is the University of the Rockies. Ashford’s Environmental Studies degree “will provide the educational foundation for students to understand and manage the environment and encourage them to become innovative and creative in developing new systems,” said Elizabeth Tice, provost at Ashford.

The Bachelor of Arts in Homeland Security and Emergency Management will focus on counter-terrorism, emergency planning for natural disasters and research and analysis. “The degree is designed to address the delicate balance of social, economic, ethnic, political, religious and cultural differences which can challenge the security of our nation in today’s world,” said Curt Lowe, dean of Arts and Sciences at Ashford.

Ashford was founded in 1918 and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Bridgepoint is listed on the New York Stock Exchange as BPI. For more info on these two new degrees programs see http://www.ashford.edu .
